The Mission was undertaken for the purpose of holding discussions with European industrialists interested in investing in Tasmania as well as more broadly publicising the State's economic potential. The Mission was lead by RF Fagan (Minister for Industrial Development), and included HB Somerset (Managing Director of Associated Pulp and Paper Mills Ltd and Director of various other companies), AW Knight (Commissioner of the Hydro-Electric Commission) and KJ Binns (Under-Treasurer).
