Series notes:
Files include scripts, shot lists, daily progress reports, continuity sheets, correspondence and associated papers. Not all files contain complete records, and this is particularly the case with films made during the first few years of the Departments existence. Some material relating to production matters may also be found in the relevant correspondence file in AA147, A11 files. After the Government ceased film production, the function was taken over by a private company and many records were transferred to the company. See NS1564.~

System of Arrangement:
Files are arranged in numerical registered order, but there are a few instances of one registration number having been given to two films. At the end of the registered series, there are some alphabetically arranged files for productions which could not be identified with a register number.
