How to Use:
Access is open to these documents except for the statements of assets and liabilities of an estate. Access to these statements is restricted for 50 years from the date of creation and can only be viewed upon completion of a request form signed and approved by the Registrar, Supreme Court of Tasmania.
Series notes:
Letters of Administration grant probate by legalising the transfer of assets when a person dies without a will (intestate), but has assets in their own name only, by granting authority to an administrator to administer the estate in the absence of an executor. It can sometimes apply to the administration of an estate where the Executor has died (and the will is annexed). Documents in Letters of Administration files can include a Petition, Statements of Assets and Liabilities, Orders granting Letters of Administration and the associated documents.
