Series notes:
Stock registers used by quarantine stations in northern Tasmania. They record the following information about stock entering quarantine: Importer Name & Address, Breed, Number, Sex, Tattoo, Port of Shipment, Date of Entry and Exit, Agent, Remarks (including test results in some cases).
The first quarantine station in northern Tasmania was located at Middle Island in the Tamar River and had begun operations at least by 1903. This station mainly processed imports from the mainland and was the source of the registrations in these volumes until 1949 when the station closed.
The Kings Meadows Quarantine Station began operation in 1950, taking over from the Middle Island Station.
