Series notes:
This series contains the log book of inspections of the 'Nubeena' quarantine station in Taroona, southern Tasmania. Comments are made about what animals have been admitted and condition of animals inside the station. The log is kept mainly by the Chief Quarantine Officer or a similar official, but sometimes the owners of stock provide comments after they have inspected their own animals.
Enclosed in the log is an original permit form for visiting stock in quarantine.
The Nubeena station was established in 1901 and operated concurrently with the northern Tasmanian quarantine stations until 1959. At this point it transferred most of its animal quarantine duties - except cats and dogs - to the Kings Meadows station.
These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
