AF277/1/1 was the field book used by geologist Dr David Evan Thomas. The remaining field books were used by surveyor Geoff Benn. Dr Thomas' field book contains pencil sketches, station number, number of point, remarks, bearings, vertical angle, reading of wires, generating number, horizontal distance, height, rise, fall, height and axis of instrument. Geoff Benn's field books varied over the years. Earlier books contain sketches, horizontal and vertical measurements, distances, and remarks. Later books contain back, intermediate and fore sight readings, rise and fall readings, distance, cross sections and location.
