Series notes:
This series is a searchable finding aid to all public works that were approved by the Tasmanian Parliament to commence construction between 1877 and 1935. The information was obtained from the schedules of the various Public Works Executions Acts between 1877 and 1935. TAHO holds a great many records relating to specific public works although in some instances the records that have survived may be quite minimal and in some cases the work was never commenced.

A description followed by a number in brackets and where the "file" column is populated with "yes", means that there is a file to be found in series PWD18 - e.g. the entry "Craythorn Road (7199)" can be found in series PWD18 as PWD18/1/6649 64 Vic 63 Item 7199 - "Craythorn Road" in 1908. The number 7199 refers to the item number in the schedule of the Public Works Execution Act of 1908.

Where the "file" column says "no", this means there is no surviving file in PWD18 BUT the year indicates when the work was voted and other PWD series may contain information relevant to that work.

This finding aid was previously an index titled "Index to Public Works 1877-1935" and appeared in a very basic form on the TAHO web-site. It was subsequently decommissioned and turned into this searchable PDF finding aid.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
