Series notes:
Files relating to naming in Tasmania organised by mapsheet reference. There are generally two files for each area. One is a Map Sheet File and the other is a General Correspondence File. The Map Sheet file contains copies of Map sheets with additional names and anomalies marked for examination. The Map Sheet files also contain references to names which have been accepted and not accepted in a particular area and also includes historical information regarding place names. The correspondence file contains correspondence from clients requesting information regarding the derivation of placenames, replies and letters of objection regarding naming. Documents contained within files include reference documents, marked up mapsheets, location/extent diagrams, notes and correspondence.
