Series notes:
Since the Births Deaths and Marriages Act of 1838, each District Registrar was responsible for the keeping of a register of births, deaths and marriages. Details of entries in the register were forwarded regularly to the Registrar-General who was responsible for keeping a central register. Hence details in these district registers are duplicated in the central registers (ref. RGD35) and these records can be viewed online.
