Series notes:
In 1965, Henry Allport (1890-1965), bequeathed the Allport collection to the people of Tasmania, as a memorial to the Allport family. The Allport bequest remains one of the most generous in Tasmania's history. Originally housed at Cedar Court, but transferred to a permanent home in the State Library of Tasmania after the passage of legislation to alter the terms of Henry's will, the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts opened on 27 October 1972.

This series documents the correspondence, interests and personal documents of Henry Allport. Including historical research, notes and correspondence regarding his collection of art and antiques, architectural drawings, travel documents, correspondence with collectors and bibliophiles, cash books recording purchases of art and antiques, and notes on colonial Tasmanian artists.
