Series notes:
Assignment lists usually contain the name of the convict, where they were convicted, when they were convicted and what was their sentence. The lists were taken from the convicts' place of transportation to the Governor in the colony. The first three volumes from 1810 to 1826 also contain various other lists and letters relating to convicts.
These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
System of Arrangement:
The lists were arranged and bound into volumes. Some volumes have two sequences of page numbers, one sequence for the whole volume and the other for parts of the volume. The circled page numbers cover the entire volume, and these usually are the numbers used in the convict index.
