How to Use:
In the basement of Franklin Square, Miss Wayn of the Chief Secretarys Dept had 115 volumes of despatches received by the Governor between 1823 and Dec 1856 stored on Panel D. The 115 volumes of Inward Despatches comprised four separate series (GO1. GO2, GO3, GO17). The numbers in the description field are the numbers used by Miss Wayn in her precis book (AE713) and identified as ID on the Wayn index cards (AE807)
Series notes:
During the period that these despatches cover the Lieut Governor was in command of British Troops in the Colony. Many of them are circulars from the Commissariat Branch of the British Treasury conveying instructions as to the mode of transacting financial business and on such subjects as currency rations rates of exchange, Ordnance stores military allowances forage allowances pay of Commissariat officers. Duplicates of many of these depatches from Sept 1833 are bound in CSO19/1/6. Some of the corresponding outward despatches will be found in GO33 and GO52//1/3
