Brief account of the Affleck family commencing with Thomas and Agnes Affleck. Thomas Affleck became the head miller of David Ritchie's mill at Scone, Perth. He bought the Newry Mill at Longford and then mills in Launceston. In 1918 T. Affleck & Son amalgamated with mill owners T.W. Monds and Son. The combined business expanded to Hobart taking over the Gibson's Mill in 1972 and the Ritchie's Mill in Launceston in 1973. Monds & Affleck became the only flourmilling business in Tasmania until it was bought out in 1995 and renamed Tasmanian Flour Mills.
