Series notes:
A unique example of the photographic method of opalotype (or opaltype or 'milk glass positive') photography. Opalotypes were printed on sheets of opaque, translucent white glass using either the transfer of a carbon print onto glass, or the exposure of light-sensitive emulsion on the glass surface to the negative. The technique was utilised from c.1857 to the 1930s.
