The Waste Lands Act 1870 was an act for regulating the sale and disposal of waste lands of the crown. Waste Land refers to any lands in the colony which are or may become vested in the crown and have not been dedicated to any public use. Section 24 specified conditions relating to the selection and purchase of land. Details that can be found in these registers include, the name of the purchaser of the land, the situation and area of the land, the date of contract, the purchase amount, deposit amount and instalments paid.
