Description:
Thomas Scott (1800-1855) trained as a surveyor in Scotland. He arrived in Hobart in 1820, and was appointed Assistant Surveyor under G W Evans in 1821. Evans retired in 1824 following accusations of corruption, and Scott's reputation was tarnished by association. Having acquired several properties, including Mount Morriston (near Ross), he returned to Scotland in 1836.;;George Scott (1802-1867) arrived in Hobart in 1822, and by 1823 was managing the property at Mount Morriston.;;James Scott (1810-1884) arrived in Hobart in 1832, worked with Thomas, and was appointed permanently to the Survey Department when Thomas formally resigned in 1838.;;Thomas's sons James Reid Scott and George Thomas Scott came to Tasmania in 1856. James Reid worked as a surveyor in Tasmania, George Thomas returned to Scotland and a career in the Army.;;
