Gilbert Gadd was born in Richmond Tasmania on 9 May 1890. He was a miner and enlisted in World War 1 in Queenstown on 30 September 1918 just before the war ended being discharged on 31 Dec 1918. He married Doris Griffiths in 1914. Gilbert was one of the survivers of the Mt Lyell Disaster.
