Thomas Johnston (c.1826-1891) was the son of Archibald Dalgliesh (or Douglas) Johnston. The family arrived in Hobart in 1833. Archibald was an apprentice cooper, in business in his own right from the late 1830s.;;Archibald's brother Thomas "The Tiger" Johnston (c.1797-1874) arrived in Hobart c.1832. He was a sheep farmer at Broadmarsh. ;;
