The North West Walking Club was formed in April 1960 with an initial membership of twenty and by 2007 it had grown to about 160 people. In addition to bushwalking, the Club organises activities which feature other outdoor pursuits. Activities of the Club are detailed in the Club magazine and walks programme.;;;;The Club meets twice a month and conducts a minimum of two walks each weekend. Members train and participate in search and rescue exercises and call outs as they arise, while a section of members volunteer their time to other areas pertaining to preservation of the environment. ;;;;In 1974 the North West Walking Club was involved in the construction of walking tracks in the Dial Range. From this involvement, the Club undertook the creation of a track through to Cradle Mountain. By 1977, a track of some 80km was surveyed and completed in 1983. Today the track, known as the Penguin Cradle Trail, links the township of Penguin and Cradle Mountain.;;;;Copies of the Club's constitution are available from the Secretary or online at www.nwwc.org.au
