William and Mary Geeves and family emigrated from England to Tasmania in 1842. In 1849 Geeves acquired land at Lightwood Bottom, a part of Honeywood. By 1861 'Geeveston' a settlement, supported by the Kermandie River a tributary of the Huon River, had been established.;;Osborne Geeves (1831-1928) was the youngest son of William and Mary. Osborne started a general store at Geeveston in 1850, and was one of the founders of, and lay preacher at, the Geeveston Congregational Church. In 1881 he opened a sawmill, which at the time was one of the largest operating in the Huon. Obsorne married Eliza Hickman in 1856. Together they had six children. The businesses were handed to Geeve's sons in 1896. After retirement Osborne planted an orchard at Hospital Bay, near Shipwrights Point.;;;;Daphne was born in Geeveston in 1890, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Geeves. She married Tom Banks in 1913 and died in 1989.
