John Wilkinson was born in Northampton, England c.1805. He married Sarah Ware at 'Roseneath', Austins Ferry, on 14/3/1832. Sarah Ware was born in Tasmania to Jeremiah Ware and Mary Brooks.;;John and Sarah had sixteen children - Sarah Ann (1834-1903), John Norton (b.1835), Mary Jane (b.1836), Frederick Brooks (b.1838), Edward Ware (b.1840), Arthur George (b.1841), Thomas Walter (b.1843), Emma Maria (b.1845), Fanny Louisa (b.1846), Charles William (b.1848-d.1848), Claire Amelia (b.1849), Rebecca (b.1850), Charles Albert b.1842), Joseph Marcus (b.1854), Tasman (1856-1858), and Alfred Ernest (1859-1860).;;John Wilkinson was granted land at O'Briens Bridge (now Glenorchy) and called his farm Elwick - now the site of the Elwick Racecourse. After selling Elwick, Wilkinson moved to Nortonville, near Granton;;John Wilkinson established Wilkinson's Dispensing, Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical Chemists in 1831 at 90 Elizabeth Street, Hobart. Frederick Brooks Wilkinson took over the Wilkinson Pharmacy on his father's retirement. The business continued as Wilkinson's Pharmacy into the 1950s.;;Sarah Ann, their oldest child, accompanied John Wilkinson on a trip to England in 1862. She later married G S Crouch. Fanny Louisa Wilkinson (1846-1918) married John Richard Betts. ;;John Wilkinson died 4 November 1885 and was buried at Hestercombe Cemetery, Granton.;;Mary Jane Wilkinson (b.27/12/1836) married 'Government Officer' Henry Jocelyn Hull on 22nd November 1861 at Elwick. Henry (b.16/7/1829) was the son of prominent Government figure and magistrate George Hull and Anna Munroe. Henry commenced working life as a clerk in the Government Survey Office, and by 1874 was the Deputy Commissioner of Crown Lands. Mary Jane and Henry lived at Glen Lynden, Glenorchy. Mary Jane and Henry had ten children - George Wilkinson Munro (1862-1863), Thomas Jocelyn Munro (b.1863), Annie Emmeline Munro (b.1865), Douglas George Wilkinson (b.1867), Lilian Georgina Marion (b.1869), Henry Evelyn Butler (b.1871), Robert Edward Morrisby (b.1874), Mary Emily (b.1875), a male child (b.1877), and Lynden Ernest Munro (b.1880). Henry died aged 64 of heart disease in 1893, and is buried at St PAuls, Glenorchy. Mary Jane died in 1920 and is buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
