Dr. Gerard Niall Flaherty, MB, BS, FRACGP was cremated on the 9th September 2002 aged 72. He lived at West Hobart and was a member of the Australian Medical Association. His practice as a General Practitioner was at the Hopkins Street Clinic, Moonah where he was one of the first Australian GPs to computerise and to employ registered nurses to compliment his practice. He assisted the Tasmanian Health Complaints Commision until his death.;;He had an interest in medical research especially the hereditary disease;;Huntington's Chorea, which has a high incidence in Tasmania, and its relationship to the social study of 'problem families'.
