Description:
Hilda Bridges (1881-1971) was a well known writer of Tasmanian fiction, although her reputation was overshadowed by her brother Roy. Her sixteen novels and many short stories are mostly contemporary adventures, romances and children's stories. After Roy's death in 1952 she gave a substantial collection of his papers, and some of her own, to the University of Tasmania, and another smaller collection to Dr W.E.L.H. Crowther. In the 1960s she donated a collection of her own and Roy's published books to the State Library.
