The first of the family in Tasmania were Thomas Nettlefold, farmer, and his wife Susannah, formerly Olden [Holden]. Their children were - George Lewis Brinley (1864-1915), Adeline Mary Ann (1865-1954), Amy Susan (1867-1921), Emily Laura (1869- ), William Thomas (1871- ), Alfred John (1873 - 1952), Edith Maude (1875-1877), Isaac Robert Nettlefold (1877-1946) and Thomas Sydney Richard Nettlefold (1879-1956). Robert (Bob), an assurance agent from 1904, established his import-export business, Robert Nettlefold Pty Ltd, in 1910. He exported hop, fruit, wool, bark, skin and grain and imported motor cars, marine engines and machinery. Leonard (1905 - 1971) and his sister Mollie were the children of Robert and Edith Maria (formerly Hutchison). Leonard (Len) married Beryl Olga Heathorn in 1934 and Mollie married Eric Gray in 1938. Len became a prominent Hobart businessman.
