Description:
The aim of the organisation was to provide homes for the benefit of aged ex-servicewomen. It was formed after a meeting of representatives from all women's ex-service organisations and Mabel Miller was appointed the first president. It engaged in many fund-raising activities and in 1968 was able to purchase Heatherley, a large property in the suburb of New Town which was divided into flats for ex-serivcewomen to live. Later a number of adjoining units were built. The organisation was dissolved on 20 November 1995 and the administration of the units, which are located at 44 Cross Steet, New Town, passed to the Red Cross.
