Description:
Musician, composer and conductor, Stiasny was born in Vienna and came to Tasmania in 1951. He worked as the National Theatre and Fine Arts Society's state musical director and conductor. He was also music director of the Theatre Royal Opera Company. He was made a professor in 1972 and received an Order of Australia in 1979 for services to music.
