Soroptimism, from the words 'soror' (sister) and 'optima' (best) is an international organisation of professional and business women. The objects of the organisation include ethical behaviour, striving for human rights, advancing the status of women, and developing a spirit of friendship and service. ;;The New Norfolk Club was chartered in October 1956. The Club undertook a wide range of fundraising activities, with funds distributed to local charities/organisations. They also ran social activities and held regular club meetings. The club closed in 1996.
