In 1913 Hilda Saunders visited Tasmania with ber brother Bernard and his wife, and her sister Edith and her husband Jack Lawrence. ;;Bernard and his wife settled in New Town where he ran a garage. Their only child Edward married Nancy Whitham, they had no children.;;Jack and Edith Lawrence also settled in Tasmania. They had one son who married but had no children.;;Hilda Saunders returned to England and married John Vivian Robey in 1920.;;The Robeys went to South Africa where they tried ostrich farming but this was unsuccessful due to the failure of the market; they then turned to chicken farming but when this too was unsuccessful they came to Tasmania and settled on Maria Island in 1922.;;The Robeys bought 9 - 300 acre blocks among the family but gradually John bought out the other family members. He also leased 2700 acres, nearly all of south Maria Island, where he ran sheep and cattle until he left Tasmania, after serious illness, in 1965. Hilda Robey had died in the previous year. On leaving Tasmania he returned to South Africa and in 1969 his land had been resumed for a fauna reserve.
