Joan Staples was National Liaison Officer for the Australian Conservation Foundation in Canberra 1983-1987 prior to moving to Tasmania. She became personal assistant to Bob Brown and was the campaign co-ordinator for the Independent Green Candidates in the Tasmanian State Election in 1989.
