Leslie Gordon Curtis lived as a child at Lefroy in northern Tasmania where he attended St Andrew's Church of England sunday school. He worked as an operator for Tasmanian Metals Co in Rosebery prior to World War 1 and later moved to Sydney where he was employed during the war in the Tramway Department, residing in Bourke Street Zetland, a suburb of Sydney. After the war he returned to Tasmania to work in Zeehan, applying for the position of Secretary for the Zeehan and District Medical Union in 1922 and working for a period at the Zeehan Hospital. He was also Secretary of the Zeehan Branch of the Amalgamated Engineering Union. He later retired to West Ulverstone. He died on 5 June 1968 aged 82 and was cremated at Carr Villa Cemetery in Launceston.;;;;His son Edwin Jack Curtis and daughter-in-law Elizabeth lived in Latrobe where they helped to collate some of the historical records of the Devon Hospital as well as of their family. Edwin died on 14 October 1999 aged 82 and was also cremated at Carr Villa Cemetery.
