Cerebral Palsy Tasmania was originally called the Spastic Children Treatment Fund Committee, formally formed and registered on 17 September 1963 by a group of parents who had children with cerebral palsy. There is some evidence that the committee was working to fundraise before this date. The service operated out of Wingfield House, St John's Park, New Town, with the assistance of Dr Shugg and Dr Marshall. On 26 October 1970 the Committee changed its name to The Tasmania Spastics Association. The next name change to Cerebral Palsy Association of Tasmania occurred in October 1996 and on 7 December the word Association was removed from the name.;;The Organisation fundraises to provide vital equipment and services for children and adults who have cerebral palsy.
