Lindsay McCarthy had a long time interest in audio equipment and recorded sound in all formats, beginning work with 7HO radio station in 1949. He He was one of the founders, in 1985, of the Sound Preservation Society of Tasmania and made a Life Member in 2006. He later presented radio on Hobart FM96.1, drawing much of the content from his own collected recorded material, and was an amateur film maker.
