Colonel Thomas Robert Gore Browne (Sir Thomas Gore Browne from 1869) was born in Aylesbury, Buckinhamshire, England on July 3 1807. He died on 17 April 1887. He served in the British Army in Afghanistan before retiring from the military in 1851 to become Governor of St Helena; New Zealand (from 1854), Tasmania (1861 - 1868) and Bermuda (1870 - 1871).;;;;His wife Harriet Louisa Browne, nee Campbell (1829 - 1906) was born in Scotland and married Browne in 1851. They had six children together: Mabyl, Harold, Willie, Frank, Ethel and Godfrey.
