Description:
An Association originally set up by the Apex Club of Australia. The aims of the Association were; to raise the status of Civilian Widows in the community; to improve the welfare and the living conditions of Civilian Widows and their children; to educate and provide information for Civilian Widows on their legal rights and privileges in the community; to liberalise the means test for pensions for Civilian Widows; to establish cultural and handcraft group and to set up a central bureau where members may obtain advice and guidance. All women who were Widows and all women who were eligible from time to time to receive a Widow's Pension under the Commonwealth Social Services Act were eligible for membership.
