The Association was formed at a meeting on 28 August 1903 held in the Masonic Hall, Hobart. Dr Gibson was appointed Chairman, Rev. H. H. Anderson was appointed Hon. Secretary, J. Cook Hon Treasurer and Archdeacon Whitington was appointed President. Among other office bearers were Alexander Moreton, Leonard Rodway, Phillip Seager and Alexander Webster.
