Based at the historic Secheron House in Battery Point, the organisation functioned as a centre for textile craft and its objectives were as follows:;;To stimulate and promote textile activity so that its potentials as an industry, as an art and as a recreation are better realised. Exhibitions, workgroups and a permanent display of textiles were an integral part of this process.;;To offer support to professional textile craftspeople by providing a space for textile related committees to meet;;In establishing the Weaving School, students could undertake intensive and comprehensive training in all major aspects of textile manufacturing ;;
