In 1972 the Congregational churches in the Huon and Esperance districts resisted a nation-wide process of amalgamation that saw the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches combine to form the Uniting Church. ;;;;The churches in the Huon and Esperance areas, excepting Cradoc, adopted the new identity of 'Community Church' and as a result the Dover Community Church was formed. ;;
