Richard Smith was Headmaster of the Battery Point Model School in 1901 and later became the first headmaster of the new Albuera Street School nearby in Sandy Bay.;;His wife Fanny was the eldest child of Joseph and Fanny Cato of 'Paraclete' Mt Stuart, a suburb of Hobart. The couple married on the 15 Jan 1873 and their children were Francis Sydney Smith (1874-1965); Richard Percival Smith (1876-1930); Ernest Hilmer Smith (1878-1958); Lilian May Smith (became Blaikie 1880-1970) and Lena Eloise Smith (became Pearce 1884-1965).;;He purchased the house "Nun'Oyne" at 30 Pillinger Street, Dynnyrne from Curzon Allport in 1901. Sometime in the next year or so his brother-in-law, J W Beattie, took a series of photographs of the house and land.;;Richard died in 1915 and his widow sold the house some time between 1918 and 1923 and went to live at 106 Regent Street, Sandy Bay which she named 'Kemble' after the Cato property in Montagu Street, New Town.
