Description:
The Tasmanian Tourist Association was founded in Hobart on 12 May 1893. Initially an information service serving southern Tasmania, it added a booking service, ticket sales and a labour bureau. It was mirrored by the Northern Tourist Association in Launceston and a number of smaller associations in towns on the North West coast. In late 1913 the TTA outgrew its resources. Claims of fiscal impropriety lead to a committee of inquiry but the government did not wait for the outcome. The Tourist Branch of the Railways took over its operations in July 1914.;;
