Description:
Rev Frederick Davies Brock was born in 1846 to Dr Henry Gordon Brock and his wife Elizabeth Caroline Barnes (see NG3905). Henry G Brock was granted 'Red Rock', 3000 acres at St Pauls Plains, where he built 'Rosemount'. Dr Brock returned to England, passing away at Burleigh House, Old Brompton. Frederick's siblings included Henry Archer (1839-1885), William Ainger (1841-1864), and Caroline Mary (1844-1860). Frederick, an Anglican Minister, married Ethel Hey in 1886 at Brailsford, Derby, England. Frederick Davies Rock arrived in Hobart on February 20 1889 per the Tongariro to visit 'Red Rock' and 'Rosemount'. He arranged for James Lang to prospect for tin at 'Red Rock', however, it would appear nothing came of this endeavour. Rev Brock married Ethel Hey, and died in December 1926 while living at Lausanne Switzerland.
