(William) Trevor Watkins (known as "Wattie") was the owner of the radio/wireless stations OA-7AA and VK7DX in Hobart. He was an amateur wireless experimenter known worldwide and was president of the Wireless Institute of Australia - Tasmania Division.;;Trevor was born in 1899 in Hobart to builder William Henry and Herriett Watkins (formerly Clarke). He had a brother, Ernest Norman Watkins, and a sister, Olive Edeline (who married Wilfred Jarvis). Trevor died in 1931 from a long-term illness.;;In 1925, Trevor won the Trans-Pacific test for amateur radio operators.;;In 1929, when the state telegraph lines were out of action, Trevor Watkins' private station operated continuously over nearly two full days receiving and despatching thousands of words of press news.
