William Ivan Victor Bellinger was born in Longford to William and Minnie (nee Clark) Bellinger. He fought in World War 1, joining the 12th Battalion of the AIF on 12 January 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal (Commonwealth Gazette, No. 219, 20 December 1917). ;;William's brother, Albert Felix Bellinger, also fought in World War 1. He joined the 12th Battalion of the AIF on 20 Aug 1914 and was awarded a Military Medal for 'for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty'.
