Ludlow Archer, born on 27 Sep 1857, was the youngest son of Edward Archer and Susannah Moore. Ludlow was a civil engineer, surveyor and farmer at 'Northbury', Longford. He operated a steam-driven threshing and chaff-cutting plant throughout the northern midlands. He was also Captain of the Esk Detachment of Riflemen, Justice of the Peace, member of the Longford Municipal Council and member of the Longford Water Trust. ;;;;Ludlow Archer married Alice McLeod on 17 Dec 1895 at the Holy Trinity Church, Launceston. They had three sons: Ludlow Vernon (1896-1975), Angus Tupper (1898-1918) and Errol McLeod (1905-1915). Ludlow died on 24 Mar 1916 at 'Northbury'.;;;;The Archer papers were deposited at the Launceston Library by L V Archer's second wife, Elsa Jean Archer, nee Cox.
