The Organic Gardening and Farming Society of Tasmania was established in 1972.;;The main objectives of the Association were:;;(a) To educate people in their responsibility to the soil; conservation of the environment, and in the healthful use and preparation of food;;(b) To hold meetings and to disseminate information to support greater use of organic methods of production and to reduce dependence on unnatural pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers and fungicides.;;(c) To influence responsible bodies to adopt better practices of plant and animal production and the recycling of wastes.;;(d) To contribute to the advancement and improvement of the professional, personal and social aspects of organic farming and gardening.;;(e) To encourage experimentation and research into all facets of organic gardening and farming.
