Geoffrey Willson was born about 1924 on a dairy farm in North-East Tasmania. His parents were Edmund Richard Willson (1892-1960) and Ada Susannah Margaret Buck (c.1884-1941). He had a sister Joyce. ;;;;Geoffrey joined the Navy during the Second World War when he was 16 years old. On his return to Tasmania he married Iris and took up dairy farming on King Island. In 1957 he moved to Illfraville where the Willsons ran the Post Office. Later, while he was working on the wharves at Beauty Point he completed a correspondence course in journalism. He was employed by The Examiner for 24 years as a rural reporter and Tamar Valley roundsman. For 11 years before his retirement in July 1984 he was involved in the annual visits of the Fujii Keori Ltd Company who came from Japan to buy wool. Geoffrey Willson died aged 76 on 24 Oct 2000.
