Mrs Gwenda M Webb, teacher-librarian and author of several books and articles on Tasmanian history, was born on 23 January 1930 at Launceston. Her parents were Cecil Arthur George Cox (1898-1960) and Ada May Barrett (1899-1944). Gwenda married Peter Gerard Webb (1922-2004). They had five children. Peter Gerard Webb was born 28 June 1921 in Sydney. His parents were Reginald Joseph Maurice Webb and Marion Molloy. He served with the Australian Army Medical Corps in Darwin and New Guinea in WWII. After the war he attended University in Adelaide and Hobart . He taught with the Education Department in Tasmanian schools for 29 years. He also took a keen interest in amateur theatre. P G Webb died in Launceston on 27 March 2004. Both Gwenda and Peter were foundation members of the Launceston Historical Society. Peter was Secretary and Life Member of the Royal Society of Tasmania.
