Son of Melmoth and Mary Fletcher nee Gatenby. The family resided at "View Point" in the Northern Midlands of Tasmania. Melmoth Fletcher Jnr. had a strong interest in farming and sheep breeding. He later moved to the Hobart area and was a member of the Southern Tasmanian Agricultural and Pastoral Society for twelve years until his death. He died at his residence "Warinilla" in Lower Sandy Bay and was buried in the Queenborough Cemetery.
