The Arrows Youth Centre was opened on 5 August 1988 in the old Tamar Hotel at 39 William Street, Launceston. In February 1988 Inspector Laurie Leaver and Mrs Rosemary Eizele began meeting with young people to establish greater liasion between youth and the authorities and to provide facilities where young people of 13 years and over could meet and play table tennis, eight ball and other games. The Kids 'n' Cops programme was created. The Tamar Hotel was leased from Tasmanian Breweries and working bees with young people and volunteers from the community cleaned it up ready for the opening. The centre was still operating in August 1993.
