Douglas (Doug) Wallace was born in Launceston in 1916, the son of Robert and Anne (formerly Trebilcock) Wallace. During World War 2 he served in the navy and upon his return worked for the Tasmanian Government for several years as a photographer in the Lands and Surveys Department and then Education Department.;;He was a keen amateur photographer and film maker and, together with his brother-in-law, Ernest Alfred Webster (see NG3253), made a number of films. Ernest was born in Devonport, Tasmania 30 November 1908.
