The Inaugral meeting of the Lindisfarne Garden Club was held on 14 March 1961. The objects of the club were the promotion and encouragement of practical gardening in the district, and to endeavour to make Lindisfarne a Garden Suburb; and to encourage the periodical distribution of plant material to members.
